Play Therapy helps children to overcome struggles, make sense of their feelings, and feel more confident in themselves. It is beneficial for all children aged 3 - 12 years. Some of the positive outcomes of play therapy include increased:

  • Confidence

  • Resilience

  • Understanding of feelings

  • Regulation of feelings

  • Positive relationships

  • Self-esteem

  • Sense of agency

  • Focus and attention

Through expression and creativity, play therapy forms a bridge between a child's head and heart to help with all aspects of their life, from simple everyday challenges, to complex traumatic experiences.

WHAT TO EXPECT

HOW LONG DOES PLAY THERAPY TAKE?

Children come to Play therapy once a week for 45 minutes.

Some children will respond to a short term intervention (for example up to 12 sessions). However, when problems have persisted for a long time or are complex, a longer-term intervention is usually required. The average number of sessions needed by children is 28.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

£50 per session.

Initially a minimum of 12 sessions must be booked, with 4 sessions paid for upfront. You will then be invoiced every 4 sessions after that.

Please get in touch about concessions for those who live in the BS2 area and further concessions for children from the BS2 area of Black African/Caribbean heritage.

Rates include:

  • Initial phone call and discussion

  • In-person meeting in the Play room

  • In-person reviews every 8 sessions

  • All materials, equipment and resources.

Any additional meetings/etc other than those listed above will be charged for.

WHERE WILL IT HAPPEN?

I work from my home in St. Paul's, Bristol.

CAN I COME AND MEET YOU AND SEE THE SPACE?

Yes. After an initial phone call we can arrange a time for you to come and visit. I am very happy to talk through any questions you have, even if therapy is not taken up in the end.
